On November 12, 2021, Browne Employment Lawyers filed a civil rights suit in California Superior Court, San Joaquin County, STK-CV-UPI-2021-0008857, alleging civil rights violations by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The lawsuit alleges violations of the Tom Bane Civil Rights Act as well as assault and battery, negligence and false imprisonment.
Allegations: On August 15, 2020, San Joaquin and San Mateo County Sherriff’s Officers violated our clients’ constitutional rights during a search of their home in connection with a financial crime for which they were neither accused, suspected, nor reasonably believed to pose a threat of danger to law enforcement.
